This reads like a 90s Hardy Boys mystery。 Full of adventure and a little over the top, but fun anyway。 The repetitive dwelling on John B’s dad and the class divide between Kooks and Pogues definitely harmed the pacing, though。 They are both major themes of the show, but repeated far too much here for the needs of the story。 I loved the friendship between characters and the author really nailed the voice differentiation between John B and JJ。 It was a fast read, with plenty of stakes raises and n This reads like a 90s Hardy Boys mystery。 Full of adventure and a little over the top, but fun anyway。 The repetitive dwelling on John B’s dad and the class divide between Kooks and Pogues definitely harmed the pacing, though。 They are both major themes of the show, but repeated far too much here for the needs of the story。 I loved the friendship between characters and the author really nailed the voice differentiation between John B and JJ。 It was a fast read, with plenty of stakes raises and new adventures, and kept my interest。 Hope the show gets renewed for S3! 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 This doesn’t follow the Netflix show exactly。 It kinda seems like it could have happened right before the show started。 I binge watched the show and this showed up on Hoopla。 Gave it a quick read。 I did desperately want JJ to find a love interest in the show and I’m glad the book tried to give him one。 It didn’t leave off on a cliff hanger, which is nice。 It didn’t answer any questions about JBs dad either。
